Step To Riser Trim (W) – Stair Riser Trim for 3mm LVT

When you lay stick-down LVT on stairs, the joint between the tread and the riser face below it needs covering. Without a trim at that junction, the edge sits unprotected and will lift over time. The Step To Riser Trim (W) is the aluminium stair riser trim for 3mm stick-down LVT. It sits at the base of each riser, where the tread meets the vertical face below. The profile is low and unobtrusive, so it protects the edge without adding bulk to the stair.

Furthermore, the W trim has a second use. Paired with the Edging Strip (U), it also creates a clean skirting board effect at wall bases. This works well where the room has no skirting at the wall base, or where a low-profile finish suits better.

Where to Use This Riser Trim

The primary application is stairs and steps with 3mm stick-down LVT. Screw the trim down at the base of each riser before the LVT goes down – it comes supplied with screws and rawl plugs. Then feather the Planiprep Fix floor levelling compound in around it. This keeps the finished surface flat with no ridge underneath. For wall bases, run the W trim along the bottom of the wall. Pair it with the Edging Strip (U) for a continuous clean line around the perimeter.

This trim is also part of the Trims for 3mm Vinyl/LVT range, so all profiles work together on the same installation.

Dimensions and Cutting

The Step To Riser Trim (W) has a 20mm vertical height and a 20mm base width. The floor accommodation depth is 3mm, so it takes stick-down LVT only. As a result, it will not work with thicker floor coverings. Finish is silver aluminium throughout. As it is aluminium, it cuts cleanly with a chopsaw, hacksaw, or jigsaw. The 2.7m length covers most standard stair runs with minimal joins.

Completing the Stair Riser Trim Installation

The M and W bars work as a pair on each riser. Fit both before the LVT goes down, feather the Planiprep Fix around them, then lay the LVT to finish.
