The lacquered oak l-shape nosing is a solid oak nosing for finishing stair treads and exposed floor edges. The Lacquered Oak finish is a clear lacquer over natural oak – no stain, no added colour. The tone ranges from pale honey to deeper amber-brown depending on the individual piece. Fine grain lines and reddish-brown streaks run through the surface naturally. In particular, this natural variation is what you would expect from a real wood product. No two lengths will look exactly the same.
The nosing is 25mm wide on the horizontal face and 25mm on the vertical drop, with a 5mm thickness on both legs. It is available in 2.4m only and has no fixing track.
The L-shape nosing suits two situations. On stairs, it fits along the front edge of each tread, protecting the tread from wear and giving a clean defined edge to each step. Specifically, it suits staircases where solid or engineered wood runs up the flight and a matching nosing is needed to finish each tread.
Overall, the L-shape also works as an alternative to an end bar at exposed floor edges – patio doors, bifold doors, fireplaces, and mat wells where the floor ends without an adjoining surface. Where a standard end bar profile suits better, the Lacquered Oak End Bar is the alternative to consider.
On stairs, apply strong bonding adhesive to the back of the nosing and the tread surface. Press it firmly into position and pin through the nosing into the tread – pinning is essential on stairs to hold the nosing securely underfoot. One nosing per tread.
On floor edges, glue the nosing to the subfloor and pin through into the floor while the adhesive sets. Alternatively, glue and weigh the nosing down until the adhesive sets.
Cut to length with a chopsaw or jigsaw.
The lacquered oak l-shape nosing is available in 2.4m only. Meanwhile, this length cuts down to fit most standard stair tread widths and floor edge openings with minimal waste.
