The lacquered oak semi-ramp bar is a solid oak door bar for doorways where one floor sits slightly higher than the other. The Lacquered Oak finish is a clear lacquer over natural oak – no stain, no added colour. The tone ranges from pale honey to deeper amber-brown depending on the individual piece. Fine grain lines and reddish-brown streaks run through the surface naturally. In particular, this natural variation is what you would expect from a real wood product. No two bars will look exactly the same.
The bar is 59mm wide, with a profile that rises to 21mm at the high floor side and steps down gradually across the surface. The supplied fixing track adjusts to floor thicknesses of 14 to 18mm.
The semi-ramp profile is for internal doorways where one floor sits slightly higher than the other. Specifically, it covers height differences of 4 to 16mm between the two surfaces. Where the height difference is larger than 16mm, the Lacquered Oak Ramp Bar is the correct profile to use instead.
Overall, Lacquered Oak works well in warm, natural interiors. It suits rooms with oak or light wood floors, natural skirting, and traditional or contemporary finishes throughout. Where both floors sit at the same height, the Lacquered Oak T-Bar is the correct profile to use.
Screw or glue the fixing track to the subfloor in the doorway gap, with the taller side positioned against the higher floor. Once both floors are fitted up to the track, push the Semi-Ramp Bar onto the track to finish. If you cannot use the track, glue the bar to the subfloor and pin through the bar into the floor while the adhesive sets. Alternatively, glue and weigh the bar down until the adhesive sets.
Cut to length with a chopsaw or jigsaw.
The lacquered oak semi-ramp bar is available in 0.9m and 2.4m, selectable on this page. For most standard internal doorways, the 0.9m bar is the right choice. Meanwhile, the 2.4m bar is the better option for wider doorway openings.
