The lacquered oak flush fit stair nosing a sits across the front edge of each stair tread, protecting it from wear and giving each step a clean, defined finish. The Lacquered Oak finish is a clear lacquer over natural oak – no stain, no added colour. The tone ranges from pale honey to deeper amber-brown depending on the individual piece. Fine grain lines and reddish-brown streaks run through the surface naturally. In particular, this natural variation is what you would expect from a real wood product. No two lengths will look exactly the same.
The nosing is 57mm wide and 28mm tall. It is designed specifically for 20mm tongue and groove solid and engineered wood boards. It will not work with click system flooring.
This nosing suits staircases where 20mm tongue and groove solid or engineered wood runs up the flight. Specifically, it fits flush across the front edge of each tread, sitting level with the floor surface rather than proud of it. One nosing per tread.
Overall, Lacquered Oak works well on staircases with oak or light wood floors, natural skirting, and traditional or contemporary finishes throughout. Where your boards are 18mm tongue and groove rather than 20mm, the Lacquered Oak Flush Fit Stair Nosing B is the correct version to use instead.
Apply strong bonding adhesive to the back of the nosing and the tread surface. Press it firmly into position and screw through the nosing into the tread. Screwing gives a stronger, more solid fix than pinning on stairs.
Cut to the width of each tread with a chopsaw or jigsaw.
The lacquered oak flush fit stair nosing a is available in 0.9m and 2.4m, selectable on this page. For most standard stair treads, the 0.9m length is the right choice. Meanwhile, the 2.4m length cuts down across multiple treads with minimal waste.
