The unfinished semi-ramp bar is a solid oak door bar for doorways where one floor sits slightly higher than the other. It leaves the factory as raw natural oak with no stain, no lacquer, and no applied finish. In particular, this means you can sand, stain, oil, or lacquer it on site to match your floor exactly. The pale natural grain and clean wood surface take treatments evenly and consistently.
The bar is 59mm wide, with a profile that rises to 21mm at the high floor side and steps down gradually across the surface. The supplied fixing track adjusts to floor thicknesses of 14 to 18mm.
The semi-ramp profile is for internal doorways where one floor sits slightly higher than the other. Specifically, it covers height differences of 4 to 16mm between the two surfaces. Where the height difference is larger than 16mm, the Unfinished Ramp Bar is the correct profile to use instead.
Overall, the Unfinished bar is the right choice when none of the pre-finished colours match the floor precisely. It also suits situations where the floor is being finished on site and the bar needs to match the same treatment. Where both floors sit at the same height, the Unfinished T-Bar is the correct profile to use.
Screw or glue the fixing track to the subfloor in the doorway gap, with the taller side positioned against the higher floor. Once both floors are fitted up to the track, push the Semi-Ramp Bar onto the track to finish. If you cannot use the track, glue the bar to the subfloor and pin through the bar into the floor while the adhesive sets. Alternatively, glue and weigh the bar down until the adhesive sets.
Cut to length with a chopsaw or jigsaw.
The unfinished semi-ramp bar is available in 0.9m and 2.4m, selectable on this page. For most standard internal doorways, the 0.9m bar is the right choice. Meanwhile, the 2.4m bar is the better option for wider doorway openings.
Not sure if the Unfinished bar will take the same treatment as your floor? Take advantage of our colour matching service – send a small floor offcut to us. We will then advise on the closest match from the pre-finished range if needed. Finally, if you want to see the range in person, visit us in Paignton, Devon.
