The tanin t-bar is a solid oak door bar for finishing the join between two hard floors at the same height. The Tanin finish is a warm medium golden-brown with naturally varying grain across the surface – some areas show bold dark lines while others are softer and more subtle. In particular, this natural variation gives the bar an authentic, characterful appearance that no printed finish replicates.
The bar is 50mm wide and sits 5mm above the floor surface. The supplied fixing track adjusts to floor thicknesses of 14 to 18mm, covering the standard range for solid and engineered wood installations.
The T-bar profile is for doorways where both floors sit at the same height. Specifically, it suits internal doorways where solid or engineered wood runs between rooms. It also suits wider double doorway openings where a flooring change creates a visible join without a height step between surfaces.
Overall, Tanin works well in warm, natural interiors – rooms with medium-toned wood floors, oak skirting, and earthy finishes throughout. It also blends naturally where the floor colour is close to the bar finish. Where there is a height difference between the two floors, the Tanin Ramp Bar is the correct profile to use.
Screw or glue the fixing track to the subfloor in the doorway gap. Once both floors are fitted up to the track, push the T-Bar onto the track to finish. If you cannot use the track, glue the bar to the subfloor and pin through the bar into the floor while the adhesive sets. Alternatively, glue and weigh the bar down until the adhesive sets.
Cut to length with a chopsaw or jigsaw.
The tanin t-bar is available in 0.9m and 2.4m, selectable on this page. For most standard internal doorways, the 0.9m bar is the right choice. Meanwhile, the 2.4m bar is the better option for wider double doorway openings.
