Planiprep Fix Floor Levelling Compound

Stick-down LVT shows every imperfection in the subfloor once it is down. Trowel ridges, shallow dips, and small cracks all telegraph through the surface, often within weeks of laying. On click and other hard floors, however, the problem is different – an unsupported dip creates a bounce underfoot and over time that movement breaks the joints. Planiprep Fix is a fast-drying floor levelling compound for patching and spot repairs – it is not a replacement for a full floor levelling screed. If the whole area needs levelling, a standard floor levelling compound should be used first. Planiprep Fix takes out the remaining shallow imperfections, trowel marks, and edge ridges before the floor covering goes down. It works from 0 to 4mm deep and feathers right to zero at the edges.

One 4kg bag covers most doorway runs and edge areas on a standard residential job. At 30 minutes set time, it fits comfortably into the prep stage of a day’s work.

Mixing and Applying the Compound

Add 1.4 to 1.5 litres of clean water per 4kg bag and mix to a smooth, lump-free consistency. If the mix is still too thick after the initial mix, add a small amount of water and mix again – do this in small increments until the feather finish compound reaches a workable consistency. You have approximately 7 minutes of workable time at 23 degrees Celsius, so have the area prepped and clean before you open the bag. Apply with a float or trowel. Feather the edges down to zero where the compound meets the surrounding floor level. One pass is enough within the 0 to 4mm depth range.

Furthermore, do not mix more than you can apply in the workable window. The compound sets faster at higher temperatures.

Floor Levelling Compound – Specifications

This floor levelling compound is suitable for concrete, sand-cement screeds, and most stable interior substrates. The 0 to 4mm application range and ability to feather to zero make it the right choice for resilient floor coverings like LVT, where even a 1mm raised edge will show through the finished surface.

Workable time: approximately 7 minutes at 23 degrees Celsius. Ready to fit over: 30 minutes. For the mixing ratio, use 1.4 to 1.5 litres of clean water per 4kg bag.

Not suitable for external use, rising damp, temperatures below 5 degrees Celsius, or direct sunlight. It is also not a wearing surface – it must always be covered with the finished floor covering.

From Subfloor Levelling to Finished Trims

Before laying your stick-down LVT, this is the stage to bed in any edge trims and stair nosings.
