Tanin Ramp Bar – Solid Oak Door Bar

The tanin ramp bar is a solid oak door bar for doorways where one floor sits higher than the other. The Tanin finish is a warm medium golden-brown with naturally varying grain across the surface – some areas show bold dark lines while others are softer and more subtle. In particular, this natural variation gives the bar an authentic, characterful appearance that no printed finish replicates.

The bar is 57mm wide, with a profile that rises to 21mm at the high floor side and steps down to 14mm at the low floor side. It covers height differences of 17 to 22mm using the supplied fixing track.

Where to Use a Tanin Solid Oak Ramp Bar

The ramp profile is for internal doorways where solid or engineered wood sits higher than the adjoining floor. Specifically, it suits situations where a height difference of 17 to 22mm exists between the two surfaces. For larger drops up to 27mm, glue and pin the bar directly to the subfloor without the track. Where both floors sit at the same height, the Tanin T-Bar is the correct profile to use.

Overall, Tanin works well in warm, natural interiors – rooms with medium-toned wood floors, oak skirting, and earthy finishes throughout. It also blends naturally where the floor colour is close to the bar finish.

Fitting and Cutting

Screw or glue the fixing track to the subfloor in the doorway gap, with the taller side positioned against the higher floor. Once both floors are fitted up to the track, push the Ramp Bar onto the track to finish. If you cannot use the track, glue the bar to the subfloor and pin through the bar into the floor while the adhesive sets. Alternatively, glue and weigh the bar down until the adhesive sets.

Cut to length with a chopsaw or jigsaw.

Lengths and Colour Matching

The tanin ramp bar is available in 0.9m and 2.4m, selectable on this page. For most standard internal doorways, the 0.9m bar is the right choice. Meanwhile, the 2.4m bar is the better option for wider doorway openings.
